Dr. Cătălin Dimir, dentist

Dr. Cătălin Dimir is a dentist at D'Institute in Cluj-Napoca, where he coordinates the cases that hinge on whether the teeth can be kept. He works on the principle of conservative dentistry: first he assesses which teeth can be kept, then he builds the restoration on them. He is the dentist behind the D'Original method. He founded D'Institute in 2018 together with Dr. Rovana Socolov.

How he works

“We use the patient's own teeth as the support. To do that, you need root canal treatment under the microscope, digital planning and a lab close by, and we have all of them in the building.

For a first picture, a panoramic X-ray is enough for me. I see the whole mouth and can already say what looks like it can be kept. But I don't make the diagnosis until I have seen the patient in the chair, because some things don't show up on an X-ray.

Our patients don't have to take time off work to have their teeth redone. They always leave the clinic with fixed temporaries, so they can go to work, or to a wedding at the weekend between appointments.”
